LAMBDA CHAPTER

KENYON COLLEGE'S FIRST FRATERNITY - EST. 1852

Active Lambda Chapter

While the Lambda chapter has begun its 160th year on Kenyon’s campus, the active organization remains healthy and unified.  With the addition of 14 new brothers last spring, the chapter has expanded to 24 members.  Consisting of men from across the globe, from Oregon to England, DC to India, the current chapter can be considered one of the most unique and diverse group of Lambda Dekes in recent history.

On campus, Dekes maintain a high level of involvement in a variety of activities.  In athletics, Dekes can be found playing lacrosse (Brendan Casey ’14), squash (Rob Mueller ’12 and Danilo Lobo Dias ’12), ultimate frisbee (Ian Kenison ’14, Scott Matus ’14, Schuyler Longmore ’14, and Asher Russem ’14), and rugby (Abraham Nelson ’14).   Two Dekes (Cody Shankman ’12 and Taylor Hartwell ’14) are proud members of the musical group the Kokosingers.  In addition, Dekes serve in leadership positions in a host of different campus organizations, including the Business & Finance Committee, Kenyon Filmmakers, Greek Council and Campus Senate.

Abroad, newly initiated brother Abhishek Dawan ’13 is studying at the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE).  He will return to campus next year in the fall for his senior year.

Despite recent complications that have arisen due to pledging related infractions, DKE remains one of the most prominent and well-respected organizations on Kenyon’s campus.  During the day, Dekes can be found on South Quad outside the West Wing of Old Kenyon, hosting BBQ dinners.  At night, Dekes are dedicated to maintaining a vibrant social scene at Kenyon with events like the annual DKE Beach Party and the DKE Champagne Formal.

We are also proud to note that the active chapter remains especially dedicated to giving back to the Gambier community.  Most notably, Dekes dedicate their time to work with Harcourt Parish, in addition to hosting their annual service events, the Shawn Kelly Memorial Christmas Benefit and the ALS fundraiser.

While the active chapter continues to adapt to the transforming culture on Kenyon’s campus, the bonds remain forever strong.
